* Web-Based Spreadsheets

Hi All
Did you know that there are Web-Based Spreadsheets on Net.. If the answer is no then continue to read…Web-Based Spreadsheets looks pretty much like every other spreadsheet you've ever seen. You can enter numbers, words, formulas, functions you name it into any cell, and then format each cell as you like. And, as with Excel, you can have multiple sheets in each spreadsheet. What's unique about Web-Based Spreadsheets is that they are all web-based (obviously). The application and all your spreadsheets reside on a web server, not on your computer. One nice thing is that your spreadsheets can be accessed wherever you are, from any PC; you'll never discover that the spreadsheet you need is located on your office PC when you're at home or away. The other nice thing is that, by being web-based, you can share your spreadsheets with others. Most of these Spreadsheets are free.

Although Web-Based Spreadsheets add some unique web-based collaboration features, they lack some features that you might be used to in Excel, such as charts Pivot tables and macros.
Some of the Web-Based Spreadsheets:

www.spreadsheets.google.com
www.editgrid.com
www.irows.com
www.numsum.com
www.thinkfree.com
www.zoho.com

My Views: A lot of work needs to be done before these Web-Based Spreadsheets pose a threat to MS Excel. As of now they are low in terms of feature, slow (as the application resides on internet servers and not ur Comp) and can not handle lot of data. As the data is on net people might have concerns over data security. A good thing is that these applications run on host servers & all you need is an internet explorer. The next big change in the spreadsheet applications is just around the corner…..

* Excel Addin for SUM COUNT & AVG in Status Bar

Hi All

Whenever we work on spreadsheets we always have to check sum, count or average and for this we have to change our selection every time which is very bugging. I had this thing pestering me and have made a tool for solving this. I have made an excel addin for this. First save the file posted in the below link on your PC .

http://groups.google.co.in/group/ExcelFiles_India/browse_frm/thread/233e8e0c97c9d58f/#

Open excel and go to Tools> Addins.. > Browse.. (now select the addin file) click OK. You now have a new menu called 'Smile' having an item 'Please'. All you have to do is select your cells as usual and run is by clicking 'Please'. Now you will have count sum and average all at once in your status bar (where u get the saving .. display on the left end of excel screen).What else... It counts text as well.

Hope this helps you and saves your valuable time.
